What they look like
An emote is a short animation your fighter performs while standing still, and everyone in the match sees the same one. There are 10, and they are only for fun: an emote cannot push anyone. Any move you make cancels it, and so does a hit or letting go of the ground.
How to unlock them
The gallery above tags each emote with how you get it, and the game won't play one you haven't unlocked.
How to use them
Emotes are not in the Cosmetics section. Open Options, go to the Controls tab and find the Emotes section: each row has a live preview and a key you can change. The first ten start on the number row. On a phone or tablet, use the emote menu on screen.
