Chaos Director

Airstrikes, gravity swaps and fast platforms: the cards that twist a round, and how ghosts, spectators and stream chat pick them.

Airstrike: shells fall across the arena, and every blast hurts anyone close and breaks the ground.

How it works

The Chaos Director has a deck of five cards: Airstrike, Low gravity, Heavy gravity, Fast platforms and a Weapon party. When a card is played, it changes the arena for everyone at once, then wears off.

A card lasts 10 seconds (a Weapon party lasts 20). Only one card runs at a time, and every effect is cleared when the round resets.

A card gets played in two ways. The crowd votes for one: players who died this round, spectators and a linked stream chat. Or, when nobody is dying, the Director plays one on its own.

When nobody dies

If a live round goes 20 seconds without a death, the Director plays a random card to shake things up. Any death starts the 20 seconds over.

If the stalemate carries on, a different card follows 4 seconds after the last one ends. The Director never plays a card while another one is announced or running, so effects don't stack.

It only does this when at least one human is in the room. In a party where the host turned ghost votes off, it stays quiet.

What you see

A banner names the effect and who chose it: Ghosts, Spectators, Chat or the Director. It counts down 2 seconds before the card starts, so you can get ready.

Everyone sees the same banner at the same time, whether you are alive or dead.

The banner every player sees: the card, who picked it and the countdown until it starts.

Is it fair?

Every card hits everyone the same way, and none of them can be aimed at a single player. There is no ammo card, because that would favor whoever is already armed.

The server counts the votes on its own schedule, not the moment a vote arrives. Nobody can time a card to land right when they want it.

The cards

  • Airstrike

Rockets and grenades rain from the sky for 10 seconds. The blasts hurt everyone and tear up the terrain, so keep moving.

  • Low gravity

Gravity drops and everyone floats. Jumps go higher, hits send fighters flying further, and ring-outs get easy.

  • Heavy gravity

Gravity gets heavy and everything drops fast. Jumps fall short, some gaps get out of reach, and knocked-back fighters hit the floor sooner.

  • Fast platforms

Every moving platform speeds up. Lifts, sliding slabs and spinning platforms run at 2.5 times their normal pace, so keep your footing.

  • Weapon party

For 20 seconds, every weapon drop is the same weapon. Everyone fights with it, and the banner tells you which one.

How the crowd votes

  • Ghost votes

When you die, you get a say. Ghosts and spectators vote on the card that hits the arena next, and the living have to survive it.

  • Stream chat votes

Link your Twitch or YouTube chat in a party and let your viewers vote on the next twist by typing 1, 2 or 3.
